Mk93 mount and T&E mechanism
______________________________________
The Mk93 mount in this model package is a vehicle mount, designed for both M2HB machine gun and Mk19 40mm grenade launcher. This mount can be installed on many vehicles with the universal pintle adapter. There are many types of base used with this mount, so the base is not included in the package. Please check the
Mk93 manufactureer's website for reference pictures if you need build the base for your scenes.
The T&E mechanism is identical to the one came with M3 tripod. T&E stands for Traversing and Elevating. Detailed information about operating the T&E mechanism can be found in the US Army field manual
FM 23-65.
Setting up a position constrain is necessary to keep the elevating screw assy (handwheel) in the middle of the yoke and the sleeve.
Disassembly Procedure
____________________________________
All moving parts can be disassembled in this model. The general disassembly procedure can also be found in the field manual
FM 23-65.
This model can be used to simulate or demonstrate further disassembly. Detailed instructions can be found in the technical manual,
US Army TM 9-1005-213-23. Unfortunately this document is restricted by the US government, not open to the public.
Functioning Cycle Simulation
____________________________________
Detailed description of the functioning cycle can be found in the field manual
FM 23-65.
Although this model is very good for simulating functioning cycle, the firing pin is not included in this model, you have to build your own firing pin to complete the simulation.
The book "
How The Gun Works, Caliber .50 M2 Browning Machine Gun" is also a very good reference for the functioning cycle simulation.
